Mini Chocolate Kiss Pies

So it is true that this may label us as geeks, but this is the third year we are officially and gleefully celebrating Pi Day. What is Pi Day you ask? Why March 14… 3/14! Because pi, of course, is 3.14!

How does one celebrate Pi Day? In our house we celebrate by eating pie! We’ve had Chicken Pot Pie, and Shepherd’s Pie and Apple Pie and these super delicious ridiculously easy Kiss Pies. Oh the chocolate!

We don’t just eat pie, some of us also like to recite pi. One of our children accurately recites it to 50 digits, which she feels is not particularly impressive (the number of digits people have recited is mind-boggling) but which seems simply impossible in my book. One year she assigned notes to each numeral and played pi for us on the piano. Oh yes, we enjoy Pi Day!

So back to the chocolate… this recipe is a slightly simplified version of the original Kiss Pie recipe, which took the world by storm a few years ago thanks to Picky Palate. You can use any kind of Hershey’s Kiss you like, but dark chocolate… it’s really best. Okay, that’s mom’s opinion at least.

Mini Kiss Pies are so easy, pretty much the only thing I had to do was move the cookie sheet in and out of the oven (my assistant is only 6.) So if you feel like having pie for Pi Day next week, just get those little people to work!

But my little chef liked the pointy look. And I kind of thought they looked like pucker-y lips, which made their name all the more fun!

And eat! They are extra yummy when they are still warm… warm chocolate… mmmmm…! Happy Pi Day!
