Planning Healthy Lunches

Groceries are the biggest expense most families have each month, next to housing. That’s a lot of money to be spending on food! Fortunately, you don’t have to break the bank to feed your family meals they’ll love. In fact, it doesn’t even take much time to plan a menu that fits your budget if you have the tools to do it. We’ve put together a free menu plan to give you so we can show you just how easy it is!

This $75 Free Menu Plan feeds 4-6 people

I spent a total of about 10 minutes putting together this menu to share with you. It costs around $75 to get the ingredients you’ll need at Walmart (be sure to print the shopping list, too!) and serves 4-6 people. Here’s what it includes:

7 Dinners
5 Breakfasts
5 Lunches
1 Dessert

All for $75. That’s 18 recipes x 6 servings = $4.10 per meal at .69 cents per person. For realz.

Think there’s no way you can make that many recipes for so little money? Just what kind of recipes are included in this free menu plan, anyway? Scrumptious, mouth-watering, easy to make meals that would make Julia Childs want to sit down and share a table with you!

Take a look at this menu:

Salisbury Steak with Green Pepper Sauce

Key Lime Chicken
Maple Bacon Pancakes
Country Pie
Cuban Black Bean Stew with Rice
Chicken Diablo
Tuna Pasta Salad

Kidtastic French Toast

Frankfurter Scrambled Eggs
Blueberry Oatmeal
Banana Flapjacks
OJ Breakfast Smoothie

Tomato & Melted Cheese Muffins

Spinach Wrap Quesadillas w/ Ranch Dip
Ham Sandwiches
Simple Meatless Cheesy Spaghetti
Tuna, Mac ’N Peas

Don’t Forget the Dessert!
No-Bake Peanut Butter Pie

This isn’t your college kid menu plan!

How did I plan a $75 menu so quickly? It’s easy when you have the right tools! I used the Premium Plan on our menu planner to quickly select each meal type (breakfast, lunch, etc) and scrolled through to see all the options available.

If you’re not familiar with Build a Menu, we price check ingredients at the stores we feature every week, so prices are always up to date and we actually show you how much each recipe is going to cost to make. (I used Walmart for this menu since it’s our most popular store.)

Our new Premium Plan allows you to search our entire database of recipes and see at a glance how much they cost to make, so finding low cost recipes is super fast and easy. Seriously. It’s a cinch. (Did I mention Build a Menu was created by two sisters who have 11 kids between their two families? Menu planning has to be a quick task or it’s just not going to happen!)

Searching the database is super easy!

While you’re selecting your recipes, keep an eye on the running total on the right side bar. That’s how much your groceries are going to cost, so there is truly no reason to ever overspend again. There’s power in that little shopping list you hold in your hands (or on your phone if using our mobile app) so stick to the list!

The tool box makes sticking to your budget a cinch!Free Menu Plan
Once you’ve created your menu, you can edit your shopping list by deleting any ingredients you already have on hand or even add any additional items you want to make sure you don’t forget. It will even adjust the price so you make sure you stay on track.
