Easy Mother’s Day Breakfast in Bed

There’s nothing like the beaming smile of a small child who has done something “big” all by himself. Can a six year old really make a beautiful breakfast in bed for his mom all alone? Absolutely!

Dads usually have to pitch in a whole lot when prepping food for Mother’s Day, but not with this recipe. No sharp knives or hot kitchen implements are used, so set your kids free in the kitchen to make Mother’s Day breakfast, dads!

Easy Mother’s Day Breakfast in Bed

1 egg
1 English muffin
1 slice of cheese
1 cup fresh strawberries

Split the English muffin in half.

split english muffinCrack the egg into a wide mug and stir with a fork until well mixed.

crack eggstir eggMicrowave egg for 20 seconds. Stir egg again, smoothing the top flat when you are done mixing.

stir againsmooth eggMicrowave for another 20 seconds. With a spoon, gently remove the egg as one piece, and lay it on the bottom half of the English muffin.

lift eggput egg on muffinPlace a slice of cheese on the egg, then lay the top half of the English muffin on the cheese to make an egg sandwich.

add cheeseRinse the strawberries (you can leave the green tops on for “handles”) and put in a small bowl.

strawberriesServe the egg sandwich and strawberries on a tray with a drink. Don’t forget napkins and silverware! You could even pick some flowers to add to a small vase.

Ingredients
  • 1 egg
  • 1 English muffin
  • 1 slice of cheese
  • 1 cup fresh strawberries
Instructions
  1. Split the English muffin in half.
  2. Crack the egg into a wide mug and stir with a fork until well mixed.Microwave for 20 seconds. Stir egg again, smoothing the top flat when done mixing. Microwave for another 20 seconds.
  3. With a spoon, gently remove the egg as one piece, and lay it on the bottom half of the English muffin.
  4. Place a slice of cheese on the egg, then lay the top half of the English muffin on the cheese to make an egg sandwich.
  5. Rinse the strawberries (you can leave the green tops on for "handles") and put in a small bowl.
  6. Serve the egg sandwich and strawberries on a tray with a drink. Don't forget napkins and silverware! You could even pick some flowers to add to a small vase.
  7. Most important: give your mom extra hugs and kisses today!
